Holiday apartments at Marina di Ragusa - bathing resort with kilometers of sandy beach

Marina di Ragusa is part of the municipal area of Ragusa, which is located 25 km to the north.

Marina di Ragusa used to be a simple fishing village until it developed into a small town with shops, bars and restaurants in the 19th century.

At Marina di Ragusa, besides enjoying holidays at the beach, you might appreciate being close to interesting, UNESCO World Heritage listed towns such as Noto, Ragusa and Modica, which are considered significant centers of the Sicilian Baroque.

Historic Ragusa Ibla - UNESCO World Heritage Site

Ragusa lies embedded in deep gorges of the Monti Iblei. Over centuries, the town had to come to terms with those geographic conditions.

What has developed is a town split into three parts. The oldest part, baroque Ibla, is by far the most impressive and with its abundance of Baroque buildings particularly fascinating.

When visiting Ragusa-Ibla, do not miss out on a walk through the "Giardini Iblei" at the eastern end of Corso XXV. Aprile. At the end of the charming gardens you have got a good view of the valley of Fiume Irminio below and the surrounding gorges.

Spighe Verdi – sustainability award for Ragusa

Every year, the FEE Italia (Foundation for Environmental Education) awards the Blue Flag to the cleanest beaches in Italy. Towns and villages which attach great importance to sustainable development are awarded the "Spighe Verdi" (Green Ears).

The award is based on certain criteria which include, amongst others, educational measures for sustainable development, innovation in the field of agriculture, proper use of the land as well as quality of offers in the field of tourism.

The town of Ragusa in southern Sicily is proud to be among those awarded the Spighe Verdi.

Punta Secca

About 7 km from Marina di Ragusa lies the small costal settlement of Punta Secca.

Locals call it „A Sicca“ (sandbank). The town with its characteristic lighthouse most probably owes its name to a small rock formation off the east side of the beach.

Punta Secca, which belongs to the municipality of Santa Croce Camerina, became famous as one of the main locations for the Commissario Montalbano film series. The house inhabited by Commissario Montalbano in the film adaptations of Andrea Camilleri’s novels is found at Punta Secca.
