Completely restored country estate Masseria degli Ulivi at Villa Vela near Noto lies embedded in the picturesque hilly landscape of south-eastern Sicily on a 100,000 m² property.
The origins of the estate date back to 1840. The "cortile", for example, the inner courtyard where today breakfast is served to the guests, used to be a shelter for the sheep.
Spend feel-good holidays at elegant Masseria degli Ulivi, enjoy a relaxed atmosphere enveloped by the fragrance of olive, lemon and pomegranate trees, get to know authentic Sicily.
The guest rooms are located in various buildings on the premises. We have chosen for your stay standard double rooms, which are located either on the ground floor or on the 1st floor.
The rooms feature wood beamed ceilings, terracotta floors and wooden furniture as well as a modern en suite bathroom (shower/WC/bidet, hair dryer). Furnishing also includes SAT-TV, air conditioning, floor heating, small refrigerator and safe.
The outdoor area of each room, which is a small outdoor sitting area on the ground floor and a balcony on the 1st floor, is furnished with a table and two chairs.
WiFi access is available in the outdoor area.
Bookings of the somewhat larger, but similarly furnished Superior rooms and three-bed rooms are possible upon request.
Parking: Parking is available in the Masseria’s spacious parking lot.
On hot days, cool off or swim a few laps in the pool (open April - October, changes due to weather conditions possible).
You enjoy playing tennis or bocce? The two courts, both with floodlighting fixtures, are located somewhat apart from the rooms and open until 20:00 h.
Discover the surrounding area by bike. Bikes are provided free of charge (upon request and subject to availability).
Or simply relax and unwind in the outdoor spa area with jacuzzi pool, according to the motto "Sanus Per Aquam".
On our tour of the premises, we were 'allowed' a glance into the kitchen of Chef Salvatore, who told us about his passion for regional products and produce. Of course there are also ingredients produced and/or grown at the Masseria: the extra virgin olive oil, the organically cultivated vegetables, the spices from the spice garden, just to name a few. Jam and bread too are "fatti in casa", home-made.
Breakfast (included): For breakfast there is a rich buffet of sweet and hearty delicacies, which include brioche, cake, home-made bread, salami, ham and cheese as well as fresh fruit and home-made jam.
If you want to enjoy the excellent cuisine in the evening, for example to top off an eventful day, you can dine à la carte at the hotel restaurant. Meals are served, weather permitting, on the terrace with a view of the gorgeous landscape, otherwise they are served in the tasteful indoor area.
Every evening, Salvatore surprises you with delicious 'creations' of fresh, home-grown and regional ingredients. Meat and cheese are purchased from local farmers, fish is bought from local fishermen and the seasonal, organic vegetables are home-grown.
Salvatore’s desserts are typically local treats made of almonds, walnuts, pistachios, lemons, oranges or fresh ricotta with wild thyme.
Sustainable management is of great importance at the family-run Masseria. The necessary electricity is drawn solely from the estate’s own photovoltaic system.
Ingredients of the meals are home-grown, home-produced or obtained from local producers and labeled "chilometro zero" ("zero kilometers").
When vactioning at Masseria degli Ulivi, not only fantastic nature awaits you, but also breathtaking cultural diversity.
Noto Antica, former Noto, which was completely destroyed by an earthquake in 1693, can be visited today and is only a few kilometers off.
10 km from Noto Antica, the new town of Noto was rebuilt in Baroque splendor under the reign of Sicilian noblemen and is today listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Of course, there are enough shops, restaurants and bars you can stop by.
Another gem of Baroque architecture is found about 19 km upcountry – UNESCO listed Palazzolo Acreide.
If you want to spend some time at the beach, we recommend the sandy beaches of Calabernardo and Lido di Noto (18 km) or Cala Mosche in nature reserve Oasi Vendicari (21 km), the latter also a great place for hiking tours.
The exact address and the information about the details of your journey are included in the booking confirmation.
