Living out of doors on four terraces

Comfortable Villa Marilu with its spacious outdoor area lies at the tip of the peninsula Isola di Siracusa and on the border of nature reserve Plemmirio. The UNESCO World Heritage listed town of Syracuse is only 13 km from the holiday home.

When we visited, friendly owner Maria Lucia went into rhapsodies about mild nights on the villa’s terrace at full moon, when moon and stars illuminate the landscape and the sea takes on a golden glow.

On the four terraces, two of which are roofed, you are sure to find your favorite spot both during the daytime and in the evening.

Charming villa with WiFi

The ground floor of Villa Marilu includes the living room with wood-fired stove, TV and sofa, the kitchen (incl. gas stove, oven, refrigerator with freezer compartment), a double bedroom, a bedroom with bunk bed and a bathroom (shower cabin/WC/bidet).

The second double bedroom with access of the terrace-like balcony and another bathroom (shower cabin/WC/bidet) are found on the upper floor.

Furnishing of Villa Marilu also includes air conditioning (extra charge for use), WiFi, wasching machine, iron and radio.

Garden with outdoor kitchen

The spacious premises Villa Marilu is located on offer a fantastic splendor of Mediterranean plants. Pine, olive and carob trees provide for pleasant shade on hot days and bright bougainvilleas add dabs of color.

On the two sea view terraces, the roofed terrace and the terrace-like balcony, which is accessible from the upper-floor bedroom, you are sure to find your favorite spot for reading or relaxing out in the open.

Rattan furniture, sun loungers, a sunshade and an outdoor shower are at your disposal in the outdoor area.

Outdoor kitchen: If you want to do some cooking together out in the open, use the brick pizza oven, grill and 4-burner gas stove in the outdoor kitchen. 

Parking: You can park your car on the fenced premises.

Surroundings

A grocery store and a pizzeria are about 200 m, the nearest restaurants and supermarket 3 km off.

300 m along a footpath take you to the rocky coast with steep access into the sea. 1.5 km off along the coast, there is a bathing spot with gently sloping access to the sea. Sandy beaches with parking are found 5 km off.

Tips

At nature reserve Plemmirio, crystal clear water and an underwater world rich in species offer a great opportunity to get to know the Mediterranean Sea under water.

Diving centers in the surrounding area rent out snorkeling equipment and offer diving courses.

Cicero, greatest orator of his time, described Syracuse as "the greatest Greek city and the most beautiful of all". Experience pure culture and feel the breath of the past at Ortigia, the Old Town of Syracuse, which is located on a small island.

Take a leisurely walk through the car-free centro storico, stroll through lovely alleys, where small artists' shops display their goods out in the open.

Stroll along the seaside promenade to the cathedral square, the town’s grandest square featuring late Baroque buildings and the majestic cathedral with its well-preserved columns of the former Temple of Athena.
