In the 19th century, only those people in Italy who owned a house outside of town went on holiday – for example, the well-off citizens of Syracuse. Even back then "Isola Siracusa", the green peninsula south of Syracuse, was a preferred a holiday retreat and a place to escape to when the heat in the city became unbearable.

On the peninsula caressed by the sea and given the hilly area, there is always a pleasant breeze and the fantastic view of sea and mountains adds to making you feel completely at ease even today.

Villa Antica, built on Isola Siracusa at the beginning of the 19th century, stands out as a gem of times gone by. It might be your perfect accommodation, if you want to spend authentic holidays in the south-east, close to the sea, to culture and to nature.

Holiday home with a very special charme

When we visited, we were told that the completely restored house was still home to quite a number of 'historic elements': typically Sicilian, handmade rustic furniture, quarry stone walls, old paintings, gorgeous wood-beamed ceilings. Almost every corner of the villa holds some evidence of the past.

Follow the traces of the Syracusan upper class and give in to the fascination of the charms of times gone by!

Inside the holiday home

Upon entering the holiday home, you find yourself in the spacious living-dining room with impressively high, wood-beamed ceiling and an arched opening between the living and dining areas.

The holiday home also includes a kitchen (incl. 4-burner gas stove, refrigerator with freezer compartment, small oven), a bathroom (bathtub with shower device/WC/bidet) and two comfortable, rustic-Sicilian style double bedrooms.

Finally the highlight of Villa Antica: the sunroom - a light-flooded feel-good oasis, which radiates a special kind of atmosphere, where you can relax at any time of the day, savor a glass of southern Italian red wine in the evening and let the day fade away. It is both lounge and dining room and accessible from the living room, from one of the bedrooms and from the garden; curtains can be drawn to keep out the sun and the heat.

Furnishing of Villa Antica also includes TV, air conditioning with heating system and washing machine. WiFi login is available in the outdoor area.

In the garden and on the terrace next to the house, you find garden furniture, a sunshade as well as deck chairs at your disposal.

Above Villa Antica lies the greened area with pool, loungers, changing cubicles and WCs. The pool, 18 m in length, is open from mid-May to October (changes due to weather conditions possible).

Next to Villa Antica there is a dependance (upon request) which accommodates two further guests.

Parking: Reserved parking is available on the fenced premises.

Surroundings of Villa Antica

The sea and restaurants are ca. 700 m, shopping facilities ca. 1 km from Villa Antica. The nearest sandy beach with parking and small bar is 1.6 km, a boat rental 1 km off.

"Ostrica Park" (700 m) and "Il Circolo" (1 km) are two restaurants we can recommend. They are located right by the sea serve delicious dishes of fresh-caught fish.

It is only 7 km to Syracuse, a city so rich in history and surely worth a closer look.
