Spacious holiday home between nature and culture

Spaciously laid-out Villa Nives is situated on Sicily’s east coast, in nature reserve "Oasi del Simeto". The latter's name is derived from the Simeto river, which meets the sea in that area and which is one of the few perennial rivers in Sicily. The alluvial plain created by the river is one of the island’s largest plains and one of its most fertile regions.

The holiday home is part of a private villa and holiday park near Catania. From the sandy beach, which stretches for kilometers on end, is within an easy walking distance of only 300 m from the house and ideal for long walks, you have got a view of Mount Etna. 

Your holidays at Villa Nives

The apricot-colored façade of Villa Nives is friendly and inviting; the holiday home covers two floors.

The light-flooded ground floor includes the living room with fireplace and large dining area, the eat-in kitchen and one of the two bathrooms, the latter equipped with shower with massage spray setting, WC and bidet. 

The first floor is accessible via an outdoor as well as an indoor staircase. From the living room, a spiral staircase runs up to the 'anteroom' on the first floor, which is furnished with a sofa bed, TV and air conditioning. From the small anteroom you enter the two bedrooms, an extra WC with bidet as well as the bright and friendly 'sunroom' with large French windows, which open onto the south-facing, roofed balcony. 

Located below the roof’s timbers, the two bedrooms, one with double bed, the other with twin beds, radiate a cozy atmosphere. Because of its size, the villa is an ideal accommodation for families. The sofa bed on the upper floor provides sleeping facility for a possible 5th and 6th person. 

Furnishing of your holiday accommodation

Furnishing of the holiday home includes air conditioning, washing machine, SAT-TV (with English channels) and radio. 

Parking is available on the fenced premises as well as along the road in front of the house. 

A well-tended small garden with lush Mediterranean vegetation offers enough space to relax. Relax on the loungers at your disposal; sun worshippers can take sunbaths and those who prefer the shade can take it easy under the trees. A masonry grill* (see Pricing paragraph) invites you to spend leisurely Sicilian evenings on the roofed, furnished terrace. 

Surroundings & shopping facilities

At Vaccarizzo, there are two so-called minimarkets where, from April to mid September, you can do your daily shopping of bread, meat, cheese, fruit and vegetables, but where you can also buy cleaning agents and the like. They are about 500 m from Villa Nives and within easy walking distance. Bigger shopping as well as shopping during low season can be done at supermarket Conad about 8 km off. Various shopping facilities, such as Lidl, Eurospin and Despar, are also found in the nearby town of Lentini (10 km off). 

Medical assistance service is available not quite 10 km off in Viale Kennedy.

Bars open during summer and restaurants open year-round, e.g. Costa del Sole, are located nearby, right at the seaside. Other bars and restaurants open year-round are found outside the holiday park, when driving towards Catania. 

The vibrant coastal town is located about 13 km north of Villa Nives, at the foot of Mount Etna. Should you want to experience the lively hustle and bustle of Southern Italian towns, do not miss out on a visit to the fish market at Catania. The mainly Baroque-style Old Town has been UNESCO World Heritage listed since 2002. 

Those who seek peace, quiet and nature and those who love exotic birds, should not forget to take along binoculars. The core zone of nature reserve Oasi di Simeto, about 1 km off, is home to a large variety of extraordinary species of bird, which you surely do not catch sight of every day. Those who love birds, but hikers, riders and divers too get their money's worth.
