Easy-going holidays on the island of Sicily

Enjoy the lightness of an Italian summer. A great place to do just that is Italy’s largest island – Sicily. They say that the further south you go in Italy, the friendlier the people and the sweeter the desserts.

You might find out for yourself when vacationing at Villa Baia Marina at San Lorenzo/Marzamemi, which borders on nature reserve Oasi Vendicari. By the way, during low season the nature reserve is a great place for hiking and bird watching.

When staying at Villa Baia Marina, one of Sicily’s most beautiful beaches with crystal clear sea water lies, so to speak, at your feet.
Whether the lovely bathing bay just below the property the holiday accommodation is located on is more or less sandy depends on the current.

Right above the bay, on his private property, landlord Pippo has 'created' for his guests a section by the sea shaded by sun sails. Each accommodation unit has got its own shaded spot with sun lounger and deck chairs.

Your design apartments at Villa Baia Marina

The Mediterranean coloring and unobtrusive, but tasteful architecture of the villa's two sea view aparments are in harmony with the picturesque landscape of southeastern Sicily. Their interior displays comfort in perfect design.
Owner Pippo really values his holiday accommodations, which is obvious both inside and outside the apartments.

The villa with WiFi and satellite reception as well as air conditioning with heating system houses two ground-floor holiday apartments, each of which has a private entrance and comes with a parking space, a section of garden and a roofed terrace.

The somewhat larger apartment no. 1 includes a bedroom (double bed + single bed), a live-and-eat-in kitchen with sofa bed, SAT-TV and dining furniture and two bathrooms (shower/WC, hair dryer each, one also with bidet). 

Apartment no. 2 is somewhat smaller and includes a bedroom (double bed + single bed), a live-and-eat-in kitchen with sofa bed, SAT-TV and dining furniture and one bathroom (shower/WC/bidet, hair dryer). 

Each apartment features gas stove, oven, refrigerator, coffee machine and water boiler in the kitchen unit and a washing machine in the outdoor area. 

Couples traveling together or larger families might consider booking both apartments (subject to availability).

When we visited the premises for the first time, shortly before construction works on the villa were about to end, Pippo told us that by ordering tall palm trees to be planted in the garden he had aimed at creating a special atmosphere right from the start.

When having a closer look at the pictures, an expert eye is sure to recognize that the classy tiles in Mutina design on the terraces and partly in the bathrooms provide for modern touches here and there.

Garden furniture, deck chairs, shade sail and outdoor shower (cold and warm water) for each apartment are found in the fenced, sea-facing outdoor area.  

The owner keeps two bikes which guests can borrow upon request. 

Parking: You can park your car in the parking space reserved for your apartment.

Surroundings - between fine sandy beaches and Baroque splendor

The bathing bay below Villa Baia Marina and its neighboring holiday accommodations is only about 150 m, the long and gently sloping sandy beach of San Lorenzo ca. 300 m off.

Above all in July and August San Lorenzo is a much frequented bathing resort. The two lidi are, however, about 600 m from Villa Baia Marina, which means that you can spend relaxing holidays at the villa even during high season.

Stores and restaurants are found 3 km off, at the picturesque fishing village of Marzamemi, which has been spruced up during the last few years, but has not lost its authentic charm.
Enjoy an aperitif at one of seaside bars there before savoring local fish at one of the restaurants. To round off the evening, you might take a walk along the seaside promenade and delight in a "cannolo" (pastry roll with sweet ricotta) for dessert.

Culture tip: It is about 20 km to the Baroque town of Noto with its fascinating centro storico and fantastic Baroque buildings, such as cathedral San Nicolo and the town hall.
