Bathing paradise and cultural highlights

Fine white sand and crystal clear sea – Sicilian seaside resort San Lorenzo near Marzamemi is well-known for its clean, turquoise colored water. This coastal section need not shun comparison with the dream beaches of the Caribbean.

Ask the inhabitants of Sicily’s southeast about the most beautiful beach in the surrounding area and they are sure to vote unanimously for San Lorenzo. Comprehensive service ranging from parasol to gelato, which you can expect to be offered at the beach from June to September, is only one of the reasons why this is so.

Omnipresent sea

Casa Pippo, named for its friendly owner, is located on the 1st floor and one of four accommodation units in the house. The latter is about 200 m from the sea and found in one of San Lorenzo's many side roads which end, so to speak, at the sea.

Where the road ends, there is a shallow access into the sea across rocks. A ca. 300 m walk further on along the seaside takes you to that beautiful sandy beach Sicilians are so enthusiastic about.

When vacationing at Casa Pippo, you find the sea to be omnipresent. From the terrace, the live-and-eat-in kitchen and the bedroom you can see it - the sea, which lies sparkling in various (weather dependent) shades of blue.

As Casa Pippo is located somewhat apart, you are sure to enjoy relaxing holidays in the southeast of Sicily - even if you are there in the months of July and August when San Lorenzo is full of bustling activity.

The apartment includes: a tasteful live-and-eat-in kitchen (incl. oven, gas stove, refrigerator with freezer compartment) with TV, sofa and air conditioning with heating system; a bedroom, which sleeps three (double bed + extra bed) and with ceiling fan; a bathroom (shower cabin/WC/bidet, hair dryer) with modern tiling.

On the apartment's partly roofed terrace you find dining furniture, deck chairs and a sun lounger at your disposal.

Casa Pippo also features free Wi-Fi and fly screens in the bedroom window.
There is a reserved parking space for your car in front of the house.

The four apartments in the house share an outdoor shower, a washing machine and a grill.

Private beach section

About 300 m from Casa Pippo, owner Pippo has 'created' a private section at the beach for use by his guests only. A sun sail, a sun lounger and deck chairs are reserved for each accommodation unit (12 altogether). Depending on the current this beach section with its very shallow access into the water is either more or less sandy.

San Lorenzo's most popular lido, Agua Beach, is ca. 800 m from Casa Pippo. The lido is our tip should you wish for various kinds of service when spending a day at the beach.

Restaurants, bars, ice cream parlors, boutiques, a pharmacy and shops are found at Marzamemi, 3 km off. Outside high season, shopping is best done at Pachino, 6 km off (e.g. at supermarket CONAD).

Tips for an excursion - Oasi Vendicari & Noto

If you love nature, you should stop at nature reserve Oasi Vendicari. As it borders on the holiday resort of San Lorenzo, you can reach it on foot, you need only keep on walking along the beach/shore.

On your hiking tour through the reserve, you get to know Sicily’s multifaceted vegetation; in spring and autumn, you can watch the migratory birds which stop there for a rest.

During the summer months, you you might be drawn to the Oasi by fantastic beaches, backed up by the historic setting of the remains of Noto's "tonnara", and picturesque bathing bays such as Cala Mosche. The bathing spots at the nature reserve can be reached only on foot. Please mind that in general an entrance fee falls due, which supports the work of the local conservationists.

Noto - It takes you only 20 minutes by car to get to the fascinating town with its grand Baroque buildings and numerous churches. One of the highlights at Noto is the cathedral of San Nicolò - majestic, awe-inspiring, simply a sight to see.
