Taormina – Sicily's balcony – high above the coast with a view of Mount Etna fills visitors with amazement. Lush Mediterranean vegetation benefiting from fertile volcanic soil and scintillating blue sea top off this spectacle.
Taormina lies about 50 km north of Catania in the foothills of Mount Etna. The town seems to cling to the slopes like a panorama terrace above the Ionian Sea and enchants you, amongst others, with its well preserved façades, flower-bedecked squares and winding terraced alleys.
At the sight of the famous Greco-Roman theatre against the breathtaking scenic background even Goethe at the time was filled with amazement.
